How to Recognize a Water Specialist
Have you considered getting water purification before, but then been overwhelmed with the many water treatment dealers in your area, not knowing the difference between any of them? You are not alone.
The problem with water treatment is the lack of education and understanding among the general population, this can often lead to blind trust.
Let’s talk about the water industry.
How to Recognize a Water Specialist
First off, this is NOT an article about our competition or an article trying to dis water treatment dealers. We are simply trying to clarify the difference. So if you think you are going to find us badmouthing our competition in this article, look elsewhere, that’s not how we do business.
There are three simple ways of spotting a water specialist:
Accredited: As in most industries, there are authorities that certify the knowledge and abilities of a company in the water purification industry. A simple check you can perform is to see if the company is certified through the Water Quality Association, they provide certifications for water purification system design knowledge, installation, water chemistry, and more. Click this link to check for certified water professionals in your area.
Many companies can become dealers of equipment, plumbers, well-drillers, kitchen appliance stores, and more. So just because someone is selling water treatment equipment, that does not mean they are experts.
Application: Water specialists may be more specialized in application than water treatment dealers. Generally, water treatment dealers can work with any type of home, and they actually target homes that are already built.
Approach: Water specialists care about the water FIRST. While of course, equipment does matter, what comes out of your faucet is what is most important. And that is why they will often recommend different equipment based on the application. In our opinion, quality equipment is a baseline. But in a technical industry, such as water quality, consumers should be educated so that they are in better control of their water.
Those are three areas to look out for, but I want to go into more detail. Below you will find information on our company, PerfectWater, specifically.
What is PerfectWater?
We are water specialists trade contractors. We provide water quality and availability solutions for new custom homes. We do this through water purification and rainwater harvesting, but this article is only focusing on water purification.
Since 1997, we have been helping families in Tennessee take control of their water.
Accreditation
Since Denis Rochat started the company, industry education and certifications have always been very important to him. This has led to multiple certifications in PerfectWater. We are the only certified Master Water Specialists (MWS) serving in Knoxville, TN and Nashville, TN. And there is only one other MWS in the state of Tennessee.
Our production lead, Jacques Rochat, is also a Certified Installer (CI) and a Certified Water Specialist (CWS).
Consultation
Have you ever seen a water company say “get a free water test”? This can be an attractive proposition to many. But there are some concerns that we had with this approach. First, for 85% of people, this is basically useless. Why? Because most people are on municipal (city) water, and these municipal water utilities maintain consistent water quality levels among the contaminants that can be field tested.
Field testing includes hardness, PH, iron, and sulfur. Iron and and sulfur are rarely an issue in municipal water (we don’t know of any municipalities in TN that are affected by these). The total dissolved solids (TDS) can also be field tested, and this may vary slightly in municipalities, but would only be used for drinking water purification.
We like to take a consultation approach. We will explain the contaminants that are common in water municipality, and talk about what we would recommend for your application. Our goal is to help you take control of your water. We want high quality water for you and your family. We will gladly educate and explain as much or as little as you want. I know for me personally, I like to know and understand as much as possible about something I am getting for my home.
We’re not going to say something like “all you need to know is that this piece of equipment will take care of all your water problems”. We don’t use the jargon of the industry to keep your knowledge in the dark and use that against you. We are open about what we are doing and what we recommend and why.
I am not saying that we are not going to take care of your water problems and provide you with high-quality water without you having to worry, we certainly will – But we want to also educate, provide resources and information, as well as answer any questions you may have.
New Construction
Like I mentioned above, new customs is our speciality. We are experienced in working with architects and builders throughout the design and construction process. We are continually working with builders to fit within their timeline and in communication to make sure the process is smooth and completed with excellence.
Coming in during construction phase allows us to meet the specific requests of the homeowner. We have customizations in purified drinking water lines throughout the home (special drinking water faucets in the kitchen, bathrooms, outdoor kitchen, lines to ice machines, coffee makers, and more), we also provide leak detection and automatic water shut-off options.
Customer Experience
This is very important to us. We strive to make sure every single customer is satisfied and provided with high-quality water. We hope to make our customer’s days brighter with every interaction.
Equipment
Like I mentioned above, we don’t put a large emphasis on our equipment to make the sell, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have good equipment or don’t take pride in it – we do. To succeed in our mission to help our customers take control of their water, high-quality equipment is a must.
All of our equipment is designed and manufactured in U.S.A., Belgium, or Sweden.
I hope this gives you a better idea of what is PerfectWater. If you end up going with our company or another one, we are simply glad that you are getting high-quality water for you and your family.
